We all love good success stories.
And what’s better than a story that we can actually be a part of ourselves? Maybe you think that being part of a success story is a once in a life time kind of thing. But let me introduce you to All Across Africa, and a way you can put a little bit of success on with your outfit every day.
All Across Africa creates market-driven employment opportunities to improve and empower the lives of rural and poor people across Africa. That’s our mission. Our target. Our purpose…read more here.
All Across Africa is all about success stories.
They believe giving people the tools they need and the opportunity to live the kind lives they dream of . Instead of being forced into slavery or poverty by circumstances they may not be able to control, they are able to provide for themselves and their families. They have something to be proud of.
And it shows in the gorgeous products that All Across Africa markets on their behalf.
I recently got my first box of Across Africa goodies in the mail, and I fell in love with the vibrant colors and patterns. The combination of colors is tasteful, but so striking. And the details? Each one is well done and adds so much character to the accessories.
As a seamstress myself, I couldn’t help but notice the perfect stitching on each of the bags. The zippers are sturdy enough to put up use for with your daily beauty regime, and each one is lined with a special protective lining so that spills are easy to clean and the beautiful fabric stays that way for a long time.
I loved the way the bracelets made a unique statement and gave me a chance to talk about fair trade and why I am proud to be able to promote and celebrate Fair Trade Companies here on Adornabelle and in my circles of influence.
But what I loved the very most about All Across Africa is that they give faces to the wonderful, talented people behind the items you can buy in the site store.
They give you a glimpse into the life and dreams–and the success story– of one of the artisans who crafts the very product you hold in your hand.
It is way too easy to not even give a thought to who or how the items I go out and buy every day affect the person who spend their day creating it somewhere on the other side of the world.
But with All Across Africa, I get to see and know the person who sewed my bag, who wrapped my bracelet, or made the beads in the necklace I just bought. I get a chance to connect emotionally with her because now I know her story.
And for me, hearing their stories is powerful.
Because now? Every time I pick up my makeup bag to get ready to go out, I think about Fabiola. The nineteen year old girl from Rwanda who raises her three little sisters and dreams of cultivating coffee one day. I can get more passionate about promoting their work because I know and can relate to their hopes and dreams.
It is no longer just a makeup bag. It’s not just a bracelet. It’s a piece of a success story from someone I “know”. And I can wear that proudly any day of the week.
Shopping at All Across Africa
If you want to get in on being a part of a success story, I recommend putting some of these items on your wishlists and gift lists for this holiday season. What a better way to promote “Peace on Earth, Goodwill toward all men”, than to promote fair trade and to help dreams become a reality?
You can check out all of the products that All Across Africa offers by visiting their online store. There’s more than just makeup bags and bracelets. There are some absolutely gorgeous necklaces, earrings and some scarves that look super soft and warm. They also sell beautiful hand woven baskets, and other home decor items.
And good news! Not everything is expensive. If you are on a budget, there are some beautiful things for under $20.
