Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been frustrated with my hair. It was always too thick, too frizzy, or too wavy, and I had an awful time trying to manage it. Every product I tried, just didn’t seem to work.
So when I heard a friend recommend WEN Hair Care to me, I thought, why not? What did I have to lose? Then I started getting really excited, and thought this would be the solution to all my hair issues.
Here’s what separates WEN from ordinary shampoos.
- It takes the place of your shampoo, conditioner, and detangling products
- It cleanses your hair without harsh chemicals
- It’s designed to help strengthen your hair and make it shine
Within a few days of placing the order, a pretty box of hair products arrived in the mail, and I couldn’t wait to try them out.
During my shower, I started rubbing the shampoo into my hair, and had to use quite a few pumps to coat my entire head. WEN doesn’t lather, so that felt a little weird, but when I rechecked the instructions, it looked like I had done everything correctly.
When I was finished rinsing, I applied the styling creme, than went to work on blow drying and straightening my hair. (Which, by the way, takes forever because it’s so long!)
I was really shocked at the results – my hair was soft, smooth, and silky, and looked like it came out of a Pantene commercial. I thought, wow, this is really going to work!
Then I used it on Day 2, and my hair came out feeling a little greasy, and like I hadn’t washed it in days.
By Day 3, my whole head looked like an oily mess, and styling it was out of the question. It had become so unmanageable!
How had I gone from feeling like a model, to a girl who looked like she hadn’t showered in weeks?
(By the way, you don’t see any pictures of Day 2 and 3, because I coudn’t bear to have those on the internet!)
Testing the Money-Back Guarantee
Obviously, I wanted to send the product back. WEN just wasn’t working like the website had claimed. They say it’s supposed to get better as you use it….well, I was proof that it wasn’t.
Since I only had the product in my possession for less than a week, I thought it would be a quick and painless return.
Not so. It took a little over a month for everything to be resolved.
We fought and fought with the company, and only after many attempts at talking to them, did we finally see a refund on our credit card. They made it so difficult!
The WEN Conclusion
Since my experience, I have found that the percentage of women who really like WEN, and those who don’t, are fairly equal. I think it really depends on the type of hair you have, and how the product reacts to an oily or dry scalp.
However, even if the product had worked for me, I still wasn’t impressed with the company, and will be much more wary of ordering an infomercial type product again. Even if it has a money-back guarantee!
It’s also quite expensive, and if you do decide to try it, the company will automatically sign you up for a monthly subscription. Even though it’s more product than you could possibly use in a month, they’ll still charge your credit card for it.
There’s no perfect solution to hair problems out there, and next time, I won’t be so swayed by the promise of a luscious mane.
